Good time - drag racing weekend May 2017

Recommended Posts

This will be the 11th year that we have put together a drag racing weekend in Ohio. The Mustang Collective started renting the track at Norwalk and now goes to Thompson Raceway (Norwalk cancelled on us one year and we had to find a new place - Thompson treats us much better and does a great job of track prep).

The plan this year is the weekend of May 20, 2017. People arrive on Thursday and we do a dinner that evening together, race on Friday, dinner party after racing with awards, then there is something planned for Saturday (undetermined at this point) and we will probably do a barbeque again this year because one couple lives nearby.

We get some interesting cars out for the event.

That Coyote Stock Maverick Grabber is one of my favorite cars!  Got to see it run at MIR a couple of years ago.

Speaking of cars, I saw your old cyclone is up for sale again.

It's over on the cyclone parts exchange on facebook, was posted 2 days ago.  A guy in Richmond is selling it and the mod list looks like it's still exactly as Greg left it.

I will check it out.  It might be the same guy that contacted me last year saying that he thought he had my old car.  That guy was from somewhere around the Richmond area.  It was my old car, he sent me pics.

I just checked it out.  It is the same guy I talked to last year.

I also see nothing has changed in that group.  That Terry guy always shooting off his mouth!  My old car ran 12.60 NA before he ever knew what a 3.7 Cyclone was!!

That group is annoying as can be. I just keep an eye out on the for sale section.

Could someone post a 'Greatest Hits' for those of us not in the group?

Just picture a place where 2 or 3 people think they know everything and the rest of the lemmings take it for gospel.

My most recent experience there was a guy asking if he could use his SCT X4 to change the stock tune for gears and tire size. He didn't want to load a tune or buy one for his car. I told him that the only way to modify was to load a tune, the SCT can't change the stock tune. One of the 2 "regular know-it-alls" said that I was wrong. Asked him to please educate all of us, and the tuning community just how he modifies stock Ford tunes. Nothing but crickets

I'm surprised they didn't just ban you. I only look at the for sale side. I don't have the patience to read the"tech"

I was surprised since I dared to call out one of the "gods"

Hell I even had a transsexual as a room mate one year and it was still a blast.

I didn't know that you guys shared a room!

I was a late add and the rooms were sold out. That was the year I took her 3.7. I did sleep with one eye open.

The MustangCollective.com has put up the official announcement! Only $125 for 6 hours of track time. Make as many passes as you want. And then in the evening is the awards banquet - pizza, wings, and beer of course all included in the entry fee.

Everyone arrives on Thursday (beer is always in the motel conference room, iced down for us), race on Friday. We go across the street for dinner together on Thursday night. For those who stay through Saturday something is planned (that is still in the works - we will have a "gunfire and bonfire" we know; one of the participants lives in the area and has a gun range at his house). Some of us will go sky diving on Saturday, if the weather cooperates.

I would be if I wasn't 1,200 miles away.

You might win the long haul award! One guy drives from Dallas every year, and one year a guy near Palo Alto, CA made the drive. That was his first time to a drag strip
