    boundary oil pumps

http://www.boundarypumps.com/ford-v6-cyclone/ I have no idea how good these gears are but they are half the price of anything I've seen for our engines. $200 seems fair for gears, they also offer a fully assembled pump for the price most others charge for gears alone.
  2. This page will be all about gear ratios, RPM's, tire height, and what works for which situation. The calculator I use is here. Stock GT MT-82 ratios: 3.66 2.43 1.69 1.32 1.00 0.65 Stock V6 MT-82 ratios: 4.24 2.54 1.66 1.24 1.00 0.70 Stock GT and V6 Auto ratios: 4.17 2.34 1.52 1.14 0.87 0.69 Common available rear gear ratios: 2.73 3.15 3.31 3.55 3.73 4.10 Stock tire sizes and their overall height: 225/60/17(27.6") 235/50/18(27.3") 245/45/19(27.7") 255/40/19(27.0") Common drag tire sizes: 275/50/15(26") 275/60/15(28") 275/40/17(25.7") 295/45/17(27.5") 285/40/18(27")
  3. So, I found 8.8 inch ring and pinion gears, 3.31 ratio, for cheap. But the ad says the gears will fit 2005 to 2010 GTs and the part # is 5L3Z 4209 A. OK, I know the pinion bearing are different, but aren't the 8.8 gears the same? I have a good installer that does tons of 8.8" pumpkins, including my friends two Marauders and his Ranger PU with a Mustang drive train. So I could be getting rid of these 2.73s for cheap, cheap, cheap if these gears work out... Thanks ahead of time!
  4. Hey guys, so I'm having a little trouble finding the sweet spot here. I've only put about 100 miles on the pony so far, so maybe I still have some room left to learn. I really want to catch on though before I burn up my clutch lol. I haven't stalled yet, so that's good. I'm fine with first gear. It's shifting that I am having a hard time with. I tend to leave the clutch in for too long and sometimes I won't give it enough gas. I can feel a slight vibration in the clutch when I shift sometimes, so I know I'm not doing something right. Are there certain rpm points you guys like to shift at? Or do you just listen for it? I don't really pay attention to mine, but when I do, it's at ~3000-3500rpm. Is that too high? I'm sorry if this is a noob question - I'm a noob with these gears! I probably just need to practice on empty lots.
  5. Recently had some gears installed. Yes, they were use. BUT! I did know the risk I was taking getting them, obviously they are not going to be dead silent... they are used. We did use brand new install parts and bearings. Had to tear apart the rear end twice. First time the whine was BAD, second time kinda the same but most certainly not as bad. Both times were with brand new install parts. Gears were removed from a brand new GT that had MAYBE at the high end 1k miles. Here are the gears; http://i40.tinypic.com/28lw7ti.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/23w9zs7.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/2q8txt5.jpg and here are videos of it driving a good hour or so after install (car did sit on lift for 2 hours because we had to finish other trucks before taking my car out) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEc9dhj9K54 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep-AB460Gwo Not my video, but this gives the best sound of what it sounds like decelerating https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzoSNZaQo4E
