I agree. When my buddy gave me a ride in his, it just wasn't very fast. It's certainly a fast car, but it seems to be a very slow 525 hp. My dads R8 has the same power number, and holy balls it's way faster in every gear. That being said its not meant to be "a fast car", but it could definitely benefit from about 80 more hp if you ask me.

R8 is about 200lbs lighter too and has another gear to play with.  The 350 is a torquey swell.  A very long and exciting swell.

R8's are not lightweight cars. Their current gen is between 3,600-3,900lbs depending of coupe or 'vert.

Oh no...not at all.  I saw a new gen R8 on the scales.  Mid 3700's.  I also don't like the way the new ones look.

But seriously, I really believe something is hiding with a redesigned manifold and a big honkin' throttle body.

Just throw the CJ manifold on there and do what needs to be done to make it fit.

R8 is also AWD, so you would think it has more loss... But its kinda like a a big difference in straight line performance. I know I know that isn't the 350's game, but i mean it shouldn't really be an AWD "small" V10's either.

0-60:

2012 R8 vert: 3.7

GT350: 4.3

1/4:

R8: 11.8 @ 121

GT350: 12.5 @ 119

I give it the quarter mile from the seat of my pants doesn't feel like that. The R8 just seems to pull much more violently. But looks like up top the 350 does catch it cuz 119 vs 121 is pretty much the same thing, thats within margin of error/driver.

Also I am pretty sure his R-Tronic only has 6 gears... Also the R-tronic is pretty trash. I am fairly sure I can shift just as fast, and smoother. It downshifts very well, but up shifts are just weird, slow, and lurchy.

Awd coming out of the hole is huge, I don't think you're taking that into account enough.

O I agree, out of the hole is crazy different. The Voodoo is not an out of the hole motor, neither is the gearing.

But that Audi man, it pulls like a mofo in every gear, when I was in the 350 I just didn't get that at all. Like the Audi still surprises me even after being "somewhat used to" to blown 5.0.

Yo Nick, got a sweeeet C5 base 'vette with only a mere 49k miles just sitting here waiting for you. :) Just got the a/c up and running(still a little wonky, shows high pressure on the low side according to the gauge but the line is cold so whatevs), clutch throwout bearing is only a little shot, feels like a box of rocks, the trans doesn't like first or second gear very much, the steering wheel is about as straight as Richard Simmons, the electronic ride control appears to be there just for show, the front tires are about as old as a high school senior, but it does have fresh coolant and water pump gaskets so it's perfect for some tortuous auto-x sessions! The silver paint is actually in great shape and the seats are surprisingly comfy. I don't care much for the driving position with me at 6'.

The seats in C5s alone are enough to make me NEVER consider one.  Just awful.  Did you know changing the seats in a C5 puts it in SM class?  Ridiculous...
